(Bloodline) Director: Bruce Burgess, USA, 2008, English, czech subtitles, 113 min

One man's journey into the world of the so-called 'Bloodline' conspiracy, at the heart of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, where a secret society, the Priory of Sion, claims to have guarded evidence of the marriage of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ, their children and their descendants down through the centuries.BLOODLINE follows documentary filmmaker, Bruce Burgess, into the so-called „bloodline conspiracy“ that claims Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene, who escaped to the south of France following his crucifixion, with their child. Over three years in the making, BLOODLINE is the first investigation to uncover new evidence: a buried wooden chest with artifacts that date to first century Jerusalem and a tomb with a mummified corpse draped in a shroud bearing a red cross.

Burgess and his film crew begin their investigation following the trail of the Knights Templar who were believed to have buried secret treasure in southwest France. In Paris, he arranges to meet with two men who claim to represent the Priory of Sion, the secret society said to have evolved from the Templars in order to guard a secret treasure down through the ages.

In a series of exclusive interviews for BLOODLINE, the Priory claims that the organization possesses evidence of the marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdalene and their progeny, which can be found in the area around Rennes-le-Chateau in southwest France.

The film team partners with English adventurer Ben Hammott, who had been searching the mountainous region around the famed church at Rennes-le-Chateau for a decade, uncovering a tomb. The crew enters the underground site with the help of a remote-controlled camera to discover a mummified corpse balanced plinth draped in a shroud with the distinctive red cross. The corpse was surrounded by artifacts that appeared to be gold chalices and ancient parchments.

Utilizing symbols believed to have been left behind by the priest Bérenger Saunière in the church, the team uncovers more hidden clues and papers that lead them to a buried wooden casket. The chest contains an alabastra vial, a clay cup, an unguentarium (or anointing jar), and a cache of coins that were positively identified by the British Museum and biblical archeologists as hailing from first century Jerusalem.

As Burgess and the team make the connections between the region‘s early Templar history, the legend of Mary Magdalene, buried clues at Rennes-le-Chateau, and the stunning discoveries in the tomb, they begin to believe that they have found the evidence of the BLOODLINE.
