Documentary Mondays: Iceland - A Family Holiday

21. 5. 2012

The Documentary Mondays cycle will feature the documentary Iceland – A Family Holiday on Monday, May 21st. Šimon Caban, the director of the film, will introduce the title in person. This documentary confirms the old truth that it is not important where one travels, but with whom. The title Iceland – A Family Holiday sounds dangerously like a home-video, but it is intentionally misleading. The truth is far from this notion: the film is shot in an attractive way, showing an adventurous journey of friends, in which a family certainly is not an obstacle, in the comfort of off-road vehicles in the uncomfortable inland area of Iceland. On Friday, May 18, Světozor will feature the Icelandic film Volcano. The fim will be introduced by Mr. Olafúr Ragnar Grímsson, the President of Iceland, in person. The screening is for free and starts at 6pm. The protagonist of this subtle feature debut from Icelandic director Rúnar Rúnarsson is 67-year-old Hannes, who has just retired. A tragic event forces Hannes to reevaluate his life thus far and to discover the emotions that have been dormant within him for years. More details about the film can be found here at our webpage.
