Summary of icons used on Světozor webpage
15. 11. 2011
You may have already noticed that Světozor has started to use a new set of icons to indicate the method of projection of each screening. Světozor is the first cinema to indicate the source material for the screenings. Just a quick summary:
Over the past year or two, the standard for distributing and projecting feature films has come to be 2K digital. As such, Svetozor no longer indicates films shown in a digital format. The only exceptions are films with 4K resolution – since such films are still very rare (e.g. The Godfather I or Tobruk in the past), using the “4K” icon in this case means that we would like to highlight such rare opportunities. When an HD (1K – similar to BluRay) source is used for a screening, we’ll use the “HD” icon. If the screening material has lower resolution than HD, then we label it with the DVD icon. And because it’s now the exception rather than the standard, we are using a new “35mm” icon, indicating that the film is screened from a 35mm print.
