Return of the Prodrigal Son

A very personal artistic account of the most sensitive problems of human existence. Jan Šebek, an engineer and employee in a design office, ends up in a psychiatric institution after an unsuccessful attempted suicide. Through interviews with the patient and inquiries among those who know him, the doctors try to find out what made the apparently satisfied young man decide to end his life. Jan's pretty wife Jana claims she can think of no reasons. Nevertheless, she has a nearly public affair with a family friend, Jiří, with the blessing of her parents. In the office, Jan is considered a slightly peculiar, but kind man. The young couple live with Jana's parents; Jan particularly cannot bear his theatrical and hypocritical mother-in-law and her pretended kindness. In the institution, Jan makes friends with Zdeněk, while the doctor's wife sets her sights on him. Jan attempts to escape…
