(Night Shifts) Director: Ivette Löcker, A, 2010, German-English-Russian version / English subtitles, 97 min
They are not just awake; they live at night and with the night. Night Shifts is the portrait of a counter-world. The film follows the trails of people in Berlin who are invisible during the day, accompanies them on their nocturnal paths through the metropolis, which are marked by pragmatic routine, desires, and dangers. Austrian director Ivette Löcker weaves a delicate web that connects the urban night owls, some of them with garish markings, others sunk in timeless melancholy. The film was awarded the Documentary Grand Prize at the Diagonale 2011.
The screening is held in partnership with the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague.
