The Double Life of Veronique

The film tells the story of two Veroniques – a Polish, and a French one. They have never met each other, but they have many things in common. They are both talented musicians, share the same heart condition and to top it all off, they look exactly alike. Even though they know nothing about each other’s existence, they occasionally feel a “presence,” despite living countries apart from each other. The influence of this surreal connection on the lives of these two women helps to raise the question of whether or not there is such a thing as free will, or if there is someone pulling all the strings.

Il y a 20 ans, deux petites filles sont nées : l’une en France, l’autre en Pologne. Elles n’ont rien en communs et leurs familles ne se sont jamais connues. Pourtant, elles sont identiques : elles sont gauchères, ont une voix magnifique et la même malformation cardiaque, difficilement détectable.
