Coffee and Cigarettes

In 1986 Jamusch made a short film in which there are Roberto Benigni and Steven Wright sitting at a table, talking, drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes; he called this film Coffee and Cigarettes. The motive inspired him so much that he made a series of ten more conversational miniatures which together make the whole feature length film. The protagonists of the black and white sketches discuss the weirdest issues while smoking heavily and drinking cups of coffee. The film has a typical Jarmuschian esthetic. Its protagonists are well-known artists such as: Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, RZA, Steve Buscemi, Alfred Molina, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchet and others.
