Sanctuary

Lai is a gambler, that spends all his time in a pool hall. See spends all days in a photocopy center, where she works. The Old man has found peace taking care of a sick partner in his old age home. See would like to mend a rift created long ago between her and the old man and she wants to end Lai´s endless betting. Can these three people find a place where they can reconnect? Direktor Ho made a strange movie in lethargic and tranquil style. Ho dosen’t only emulate his sources of inspiration Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Tsai Ming-Liang; he also manager to equal them.

Ho Yuhang was originally trained as an engineer than learned film making in the television advertising industry. Ho has since directed several independent short films and documentaries that were received with international critical acclaim. His first tele-movie Min won the Special Jury Prize at the Nantes Film Festival. Sanctuary received a special mention by the jury at the film festival in Pusan.
