Romantic story from exotic environment about great love of the slave girl Medora and the pirate Conrad. The lovers escape together on the pirate's ship. The ballet is full great dance variations - the famous pas de deux of Conrad and Medora (which is part of every ballet competition) and very impressive corps de ballet scenes with battle of pirates.

The ballet is a classical reconstruction of the historic Petipa's version with opulent set design and robust historic costumes. The ballet was reconstructed by the creative duo Alexei Ratmansky, the great contemporary choreographic genius; and Yuri Burlaka, specialist on the historic dance reconstructions.
