One of the greatest choreographers of our time - Alexei Ratmansky revived the Schostakovich pre-war ballet (1935) making fun of life in the Russian "kolkhozy". The ballet does not take the idyll of workers too seriously. Ratmansky's fresh wit gained world success and acclaimed critics for this already completely forgotten ballet.

The phenomenal success of the Bright Stream (2003) earned A. Ratmansky the position of the Bolshoi Ballet artistic director (2004).
