BRATISLAVAfilm
(BRATISLAVAfilm) Director: Jakub Kroner, SK, 2009, Slovak version, 78 min
One city, one day, several stories. "BRATISLAVAfilm" is a realistic drama about modern day Bratislava. It is a fictional documentary about life in Petrzalka, a neighbourhood that is portrayed as a dark ghetto. One of the stories is told through the eyes of a criminal, another through the eyes of a taxi-driver, and a third through the eyes of a young drug-dealer. All stories gradually intertwine and move towards an inevitable tragedy. The director, Jakub Kroner, turns Petrzalka into a Slovak version of the Bronx, where drugs and violence are part of everyday life. This dark vision is beautifully accompanied by the everpresent Slovak hip-hop.
