The City of Crane
(Siti obeu keurein) Director: Moon Seung-wook, ROK, 2010, Korean version / English subtitles / translated into Czech, 100 min
In his fourth feature, Moon Seung-wook, a graduate of the acclaimed film school in Lodz, invites the audience into the streets of the Korean city Incheon. Here, two ethnically diverse TV reporters want to make a documentary about a migrant worker from Mongolia who dances with the cranes nesting in Incheon’s central park. The contemplative narration shows the growing mutual understanding of people regardless of their ethnicity. The City of Crane is part of the Korea through the Movies project, whose goal is to show the beauty of contemporary Korea through stories set in different Korean cities.
