Where the Wild Things Are
(Where the Wild Things Are) Director: Spike Jonze, USA, 2009, Czech version, 101 min
Max is an ordinary kid with a very vivid imagination he uses to hide from his family’s disputes. After one heated argument, Max flees into a world inhabited by curious furry creatures. One of them, Carol, with a temperament very similar to Max’s, decides to befriend him instead of eating him, like he normally would, after Max proclaims he is a king with magical powers that can bring harmony to their world. The adaptation of a popular children’s book by Maurice Sendak offers a peculiar world that in the hands of Spike Joneze turns into a fairytale for kids and adults alike.
