Channels of Rage / Link TV Block 2
(Channels of Rage / Link TV Block 2) Director: Anat Halachmi / Various, IZR / Various, 2003, original version / Czech sub-subtitles, 99 min
- Channels of Rage traces the rise of two rappers on the Israeli hip-hop scene, the proudly Zionist Subliminal and the pro-Palestinian Tamer Nafer, against a background of escalating violence and political unrest. Beginning in 2000, the film follows the intertwined fates of the pair over three years, as they travel from proud coexistence to audience-pleasing posturing to outright hostility, mirroring the deterioration of Israeli-Palestinian relations. While Subliminal turns to the patriotic right,Tamer begins rapping in Arabic in an attempt to reach a broader audience, becoming more involved in the Palestinian cause. Their belief that hip-hop can bridge the politics of the region is shattered as the lyrical battles spill onto the streets.
