The Godfather

In this Best Picture Oscar winner, Marlon Brando stars as Vito Corleone, the aging Don of the Corleone crime family. His two older sons, Sonny (James Caan) and Fredo (John Cazale), aid him in the family business. His youngest son, Michael (Al Pacino) is a war hero who is being groomed for a career in the legitimate world. After his father is shot and a further attempt to assassinate him is foiled, Michael is forced into acting in the family business. His rise to take his father’s place is the plot which makes this one of the greatest gangster movies ever made.
