Across the Heart

Kalu (Guru Dutt) is a taxi driver who serves a short prison sentence for speeding. Upon his release, his old employer refuses to take him back on and Kalu wanders through the streets. On a whim, Kalu helps a young woman Nikki (Shyama) to fix her car. Nikki helps him get a job at her father's garage. Love blossoms. When Nikki’s father finds out, Kalu gets fired. Desperate, Kalu falls in with a band of crooks, which includes a dancer who develops a crush on Kalu, who still pines away for Nikki.
