Paris 36
(Faubourg 36) Director: Christophe Barratier, F - D - CZ, 2007, French version / Czech subtitles, 120 min
The action takes place between December 1935 and July 1936 in a working-class neighbourhood in the north-east of Paris. The spring election of the Popular Front government gives rise to the craziest hopes and extremism of every sort. It’s here that three out-of-work theatre professionals decide to take over the music hall where they were employed only a few months before, determined to put on a hit show. This place will be the stage for the most ephemeral of wonderful ventures.
