Eugene H?tz and his band of gypsy punks have become international superstars. This is the story of how they got there, from house band at New York's Bulgarian Bar to international phenomenon. Filming from 2001 to 2006, director Jimeno captured the unique energy of Gogol Bordello's sweat-drenched, booze-soaked shows but also the thinking behind Ukrainian-born frontman H?tz's music and manic charisma (glimpses of which can be seen even in old home movies him dancing in his family's cramped Kiev flat), and the growing delight his mostly immigrant cohorts take in finding themselves at the center of an increasingly popular traveling sonic circus.
