Austria's biggest pop star gets the biopic treatment in this dramatization of the life of Johann Hölzel, better known as Falco. Thomas Roth's film chronicles Falco's early days on the Vienna music scene, his rise to solo stardom with "Der Kommissar," his international breakthrough with "Rock Me Amadeus" (the first song by a German-speaking artist to hit #1 in America) and his tumultuous private life, replete with drug addiction and family ills, until his sudden death in 1998, when his car smashed into a bus in the Dominican Republic. Manuel Rubey of the Austrian rock group Mondscheiner plays the fast-living star who faded from the world stage but remains a huge figure in his home country.
