Sawdust and Tinsel

A middle-aged circus owner has forsaken his family for Anne, a proud, passionate equestrian performer who eventually allows herself to be seduced by a neurotic young actor. Albert takes to the bottle and mercilessly taunts Anne. But after being beaten in a fight with the actor, he attempts suicide. However, the circus must go on, and Albert and Anne try to resume their lives again.The nightmarish opening scene of the film sets the pace, but this film is far more than a bleak study of human degradation.
