Sometimes, a person prepares things so thoroughly for such a long time that there is a danger that they will never actually carry out their plans because they are constantly making decisions and putting things off until a better opportunity arises. Take, for instance, the perpetually smiling nonagenarian Aimé, who has been preparing a great trip to Morocco for more than 40 years. He has studied all the guides and the maps but has never been able to convince his wife to come with him. She is at her most content when she is at home in her armchair with her soul wandering somewhere in the faraway cadences of classical music. Eventually, however, Aimé really does set off on his journey, accompanied by his grandson, who directs the film. Morocco and its empty desserts become a place where one can take stock of the life of a man who retains a charming ability to enjoy everything around him, despite all the thwarted opportunities he has experienced. With delicate humour, this formally simple documentary tells a tale about the fulfilment of a dream, the volatile nature of fortune and the courage to remove the obstacles that we ourselves have placed in our way.
