Jean-Louis Bompoint

Jean-Louis Bompoint (1960, France) – this maverick of the film world is a cameraman, director, editor, musician and member of this year’s jury. He has been passionate about animated film since childhood – at 12 he corresponded with Norman McLaren. After leaving school, he moved to Paris and started making animated short films. His meeting with Michel Gondry was not only the start of a great friendship, but also collaboration that produced exceptional music videos, commercials and The Science of Sleep (2006). J.-L. Bompoint also worked as cameraman on Grace is Gone – this year’s Sundance Audience Award winner. He teaches film and is in charge of restoring the legendary film of Jean Vigo Atalante.
