Auckland Harbour, New Zealand, July 10th 1985. French navy combat frogman place two mines against the hull of the Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior. At ten minutes to midnight, the bombs explode, sinking the ship and killing photographer Fernando Pereira. The French government is desperate to hide the truth. The truth about the bombing. The truth about nucklear weapons testing in the Pacific Ocean. So desperate that it will go to any lenghts to silence its opponents. The Boat and the Bomb is story of international espionage, state-sanctioned lies and the nuclear arms race.
The partner of the screening is the environmental organization Greenpeace. The screening will be followed by discussion with Greenpeace executive director Jiří Tutter and journalist and photograph Václav Vašků.
