Violin Knight

A highly original look into the life of a Roma artist, guided by the artist himself. Marek Balog, a violinist equally at home with the classical canon and gypsy folk traditions, takes the reins of his own story, leading us on his travels to performances through the Czech and Slovak republics, visiting the important places of his childhood, and showing viewers through his eyes the trials every artist shares and the trials unique to his social status as a minority. An intimate portrait of a dedicated artist whose work reflects equally his love of music and his passion to authentically communicate the experience of Roma in the Czech Republic.
