The Merchant of Venice

A timeless play by William Shakespeare follows the comical as well as the dramatic twists of fate and fortune of several Christian aristocrats in the 16th Century Venice, all of them owing money to a Jewish usurer. All of the respected merchant Antonio’s (Jeremy Irons) property is at the sees, he, however, needs money just now to help his friend Bossanio (Joseph Fiennes) to pursue his love for the beautiful Portia (Lynn Collins). Should he not have the money back by the arranged time, Shylock will demand a pound of flesh from Antonio’s own body.
