East of the Wall

A romantic – by now also historic – film. Felix, a gay man from West Berlin falls in love with Thomas from the other side of the Berlin Wall. It is love at first sight but their relationship is not easy to maintain. Felix only gets one-day visas and has to return every night. When the East-German authorities become suspicious, Thomas decides to try and flee to the West. Can their relationship triumph over the political realities? Made in 1985, Westler includes super-8 footage shot clandestinely on the east side of the Wall.
