The modernization of kino Světozor involved a complete exchange of seats in the big screening hall, moving the screen towards audience, more efficient sound proof of the big screening hall, reconstruction of rest rooms and the screening booth. The bar and the exhibiton foyer of the cinema was reconstructed as well.
The concept of the modernization was prepared by architect Marcela Steinbachová, who has already worked on e.g. reconstruction of the theatre Komorní scéna Aréna in Ostrava, and her atelier Skupina (www.skupina.org).
The new specifical look of Světozor represents its unique position of a film arthouse in the very centre of Prague with a bar, exhibition space, Film Haberdashery Terry’s Socks and two screening halls.
When working on the new design of the cinema, Marcela Steinbachová was inspired by visually strong scenes from several legendary films. Her proposal respects all the neccesary technical requirements the cinema needs to meet in order to host number of film events and festivals which have already found their home in Světozor.
